The Resin Shilajit
Shilajit is formed naturally from rocks in the lower Himalayas, Vindhya and other mountainous areas of Nepal during hot weather where iron deposits are abundant. It oozes from cracks in the rocks or is formed as a tarry substance by the decomposition of plant material in the ground.
Shilajit is a resinous substance composed of a compact mixture of organic plant matter. It has a dark red, sticky and oily texture, interwoven with plant fibres, sand and earth particles. It has a distinctly bitter taste, with the black variety, which has undergone extensive purification processes, being the most commonly used.
Shilajit contains more than 85 natural ionic minerals as well as fulvic acid, humic acid and valuable phytonutrients. Fulvic acid helps open cell membranes, allowing minerals to be transported deep into cells. Without the effective absorption of vitamins and minerals, the body’s tissues can suffer from a deficiency, affecting both physical and mental energy.
Shilajit consists of 60-80% organic matter, 20-40% minerals and approximately 5% trace elements.
